Kelly Rizzo is an Actress, Host, Executive producer and the wife of the famous American Actor, Standup Comedian Bob Saget, who died on January 9, 2022. Bob Saget was an American actor, stand-up comedian, and television host. His acting roles included Danny Tanner on the ABC sitcom Full House, its Netflix sequel Fuller House, and the voice of narrator Ted Mosby on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. He hosted America’s Funniest Home Videos from its inception in 1989 until 1997.
Saget was also known for his adult-oriented stand-up comedy. His 2014 album That’s What I am Talkin’ About was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Comedy Album category.
Saget was born on May 17, 1956, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, into a Jewish family. His father, Benjamin, was a supermarket manager and his mother, Rosalyn “Dolly,” was a hospital administrator. Early in his life, Saget’s family moved to Norfolk, Virginia, where he briefly attended Lake Taylor High. Saget later attributed his sense of humour to the fact that he was a rebellious student at Temple Israel in Norfolk, a Conservative synagogue.
Having no family in Virginia, Saget celebrated his bar mitzvah in Philadelphia when he turned 13. Saget’s family moved from Virginia to the Encino neighbourhood in Los Angeles, where he met Larry Fine of the Three Stooges and heard various stories from Fine.
The family then moved back to Philadelphia, where Saget graduated from Abington Senior High School before his senior year. Saget originally wanted to be a doctor, but his English teacher, Elaine Zimmerman, recognized his creative potential and urged him to pursue a career in film.
Saget attended Temple College’s film school, where he made Through Adam’s Eyes, a black-and-white film about a boy who undergoes reconstructive facial surgery, which won a merit award at the Student Academy Awards. While at Temple, Saget travelled by train to The Improv and to Catch a Rising Star in New York City, where he played “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” using a water bottle to make the guitar weep. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978.
