Mitch Payton is the principal and Owner of Team Pro Circuit. Team Owner Mitch Payton started riding motorcycles when his grandparents bought him a Honda C90 Step-Through.
His passion evolved over the years to the point where he was racing motorcycles in the deserts of California.
At the age of 17, Payton participated in a race in California City, California. Payton crashed violently down a steep hill, damaging the nerve pathways along his spine, causing him to lose the use of his legs.
After the incident, Payton wanted to stay in the motorcycle racing community and did so by purchasing the motorcycle shop that supported him during his racing days ” Anaheim Husqvarna ” in 1978.
In addition to selling motorcycles himself, Payton designed and manufactured components such as exhaust pipes and suspension components to improve the performance of the bikes.
Payton thought it unlikely that other motorcycle shops would stock and sell his performance parts if they were marketed under the business name of his motorcycle shop, which competed for customers.
Payton’s solution was to create a business name for selling his parts, “Pro Circuit”. A friend of Payton’s lobbied for him to make parts for other brands of motorcycles, which Payton felt was unnecessary at the time, as those bikes seemed to have good performance.
The first part he produced for a motorcycle brand other than Husqvarna was an exhaust for a 125cc Honda motorcycle. Sales of the exhaust far exceeded Payton’s expectations. Payton took this success as a sign that he should expand his product line even further and produce parts for all makes and models.
